Today is my third day in Florence, Italy. Already, I have seen and done so much! My beautiful apartment is right in the heart of Florence. Outside of my window are cafes, restaurants, people roaming the busy narrow streets, and careless moped drivers. I wake up each morning to the sound of church bells ringing from Florence’s beautiful Cathedral know as Il Duoma which is right down my street. Sleeping with the windows wide open so you awaken to morning breeze is a daily occurence.
My three roommates and I went to the Uffizi Museum andĀ absolutely loved it. Not only did I love all of the artwork and sculptures, but the actual building itself has such fine and beautiful architecture from centuries ago. One reasonĀ Florence is such a magical city is because history surrounds you everywhere you go. My absolute favorite works of art at the Uffizi were Bottacelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and “Spring.” Both are more amazing in person because the stories of the paintings reach out and grab you with every brush stroke. I definitely think I will go back and see it all once more before I leave.
